Pilot project Port of Esbjerg

For many years, the Port of Esbjerg has had major problems with settling due to the pumping out of material beneath the roads and pier areas. It typically occurs in connection with high and low tide, where leaky plugs and concrete element joints cannot handle the difference in pressure.

In cooperation with the Port of Esbjerg’s supervisor and Juhls Diving, Marlon Tørmørtel conducted a pilot project that entailed various studies throughout the summer of 2016 involving several underwater castings of concrete elements, steel sheet piling and repairs of significant collision damage.
